A reality which many people, often on a regular basis, chose to escape through their individual poison of choice. The reason for this escape is tied to each individual. The end goal of complete euphoria, and mentally being exactly where you strive to be, being accomplished all the time throughout life, is the ideal utopia for an individual. Utopian societies can only be perfect in the eyes of the individual. Each individuals idea of the perfect existence, is the only important way to create a utopia for that individual. A utopia could never exist on a universal scale. The laws of physics make it impossible to create a universal Utopia. Many people have different ideas and opinions as to what a Utopia is. To me, a utopia is an organized society in which there is no crime, there is financial stability as well as equal treatment and opportunity amongst everyone. For this to happen, every member of the Utopian society must be on the same page. Every member of the society must also be willing to work for the greater good of all and not personal benefit. There can be no social status or hierarchy. Everyone should be willing to share. A community that falls under these requirements perfectly is the community of Twin Oaks. Located in Virginia, Twin Oaks is a closed community, home to around 100 residents. Here, there is a shared economy where residents get an allowance and they all work for one another. Everyone in this community has access to all the same resources including food, shelter, and a great education. Twins Oaks is a community in Virginia that is considered a utopia because of how the community lives by their own set of rules. Their rules have similarities to what we picture as the perfect world. In Twin Oaks, you don’t see crime because the existence of poverty has been eliminated. “That’s great!” you say, “No poverty, pack your bags we’re going to Virginia”. Hold the phone you, eager optimist. Let me tell you about some more of the positives and then the not so positive. Twin Oaks, Virginia So, let’s get through the positives, Twin Oaks has a government that rotates consistently so the likelihood of a politician being corrupt is lowered. Twin Oaks has a stable economy because they are not completely reliant on the United States economy. Also, economically the residents end up pooling some of their money for the betterment of the community. The community is very sexually open minded, what I mean is they are accepting of LGBTQ members and don’t reject their sexuality. The

Noah's Arc with all the animals     The story “Noah and the Ark” written by Jonathan Goldstein is a more comedic version of the biblical story Noah’s Ark. Goldstein depicts Noah as a disgruntled old man who verbally and physically abuses his three sons. He used this form of tough love to prepare them for the righteousness and hardships that life had for them. The world has changed for the worse in Noah's eyes. He does things the old-fashioned way, and he believes that people should endure hard labor, while the youth today have become lackadaisical. He found the new generation to be lazy because they only worked two days a week and he thought the way they lived was “ass-backwards and off the track” (Goldstein pg. 4). Utopia is defined by Dictionary.com as “an imaginary island described in Sir Thomas More's Utopia (1516) as enjoying perfection in law, politics, etc”. When I hear the word utopia I think of a place where everything is perfect, there is no violence, no environmental issues or financial struggles and especially no spiders, I can’t stand those creepy creatures. Anyway, in this place there is just peace and serenity, but everyone has their own idea of what a utopian city would be like. In fact, throughout history there have been plans, and attempts to create utopian cities. One of which being Germania which was the planned capital of the Nazis. Hitler had a plan to turn Berlin into the Nazis’ futuristic capital. He put his architect Albert Speer in charge of creating the city. It would of had a stadium that could hold up to about 400,000 people, and a grand hall which would have been the largest enclosed space in the world being able to hold about 180,000 peo
