The Wrap Up

After getting deep in the novel Feed I am almost 100% sure we all see the what the feed is actually doing to them. It was chewing their brains up piece by piece because of this crave for technology. Since the the beginning of the book, the feed was forced upon the posse. Showed them a couple of tricks and opportunities and eventually turned them into “Feed heads”.

“Titus and his friends are now back on Earth with working feeds, which means everything's back to normal. Titus hangs out on the feed, chatting with friends and watching feedcasts, and driving around the suburbs in his parents' upcar, checking out how normal things are.” The feeds have become an essential part of their everyday life. You can almost consider us similar if not the same. We have twitter, snapchat, instagram and every other social media apps there are.

Walk into buildings, poles, doors and anything else standing still. The story behind going crazy for and being so attached is that they get hooked on getting every new addition to the feed. Everything that goes on, goes on on the feed.... But the braggest thing...is that it knows everything you want and hope for, sometimes before you even know what those things are. It can tell you how to get them, and help you make buying decisions that are hard.
The feed is not only bad for us financially it’s also effective physically too, even in real life. Cell phones alone cause more than 1 of 4 accidents alone. USA today says The National Safety Council's annual injury and fatality report, "Injury Facts," found that the use of cellphones causes 26% of the nation's car accidents, a modest increase from the previous year. The 2014 edition of the report compares data from 2013 and earlier.” It’s a shame how technology is supposed to be bettering us but seems to do more harm than justice. We most commonly see technology being abused. We just sent a bomb to Korea and they’re planning to send one back. Our advancement in technology also helps the growth of developing weapons of mass destruction like we have now. It’s all ending up with a negative result. We are doing nothing but stirring things up until everybody has been pushed to their limit and a wild war starts. Countries don’t need to be fighting with other countries that burn bridges unnecessarily.

Don’t get me wrong, the feed is not always a bad thing. For the most part it is but it does have its good times. They can pick from a wide collection of activities that can keep them bus while they go on throughout the day. “When they arrive at the party, Marty and Link are playing a completely immersive video game called The Cranky Tumble of Dark House, and get annoyed at Titus for getting in the way of the action” They start playing games at a party … who does that. Their ideas of fun is completely opposite of some of us. I can’t lie games at a party wouldn’t be that bad, but I’d rather stick to the music. I wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t already something like people playing games in parties.

For years now, we have cut back less and less on relying on our brains and more on the computers. In Feed, you can’t even function if you get hacked. You see less and less people doing what they have to do manually it’s all machines. I can bet the last dollar in my pocket that you can go to a store and see that the math is all done virtually, we don’t have to use our brains and everything is automated. In about 30 years I can only imagine what type of world we’re going to be living in. I can picture us looking like a less dramatic version of the jetsons. We will have electronic dogs and flying cars too.
It’s almost scary how accurate M.T Anderson was with the predictions of the future. He hit the nail on the head with the cell phones. Everybody who is deeply into their phone doesn’t have a mind of their own, they’re all phone.15 years ago, M.T. Anderson began to work on the novel called Feed. The book which is now known widely and is considered a classic, was released in 2002 and pictures a world where the citizens have the internet inside their brains and becomes hooked. “The Feed” provides Anderson’s disaffected teen narrator, Titus, and his friends with a constant stream of information, but it also overwhelms them with constant targeted advertising put out by corporations to get them commit to their product.

One thing in particular that I wanted to get deeper on and open up about was the hack. We have a whole bunch of people out here who are toxic to you. They may disguise themselves as friends or homies but are really out to get you. Once you let those toxic people in, that’s when things go wrong and you become toxic too, that’s why it’s better for us to stay away from what we know may be potent to us and won’t help.

From what I’ve read and took from the feed is that we need to slow down on the use of technology and we need to cut some of it down. Living in a world that revolves around technology is going to nothing but continue to destroy the human brain until we are fully dependant on machines and dumb ourselves down even more than we are now. We need to slow down.
